From the viewpoint of human incident or action, nothing much happens in the Keys. But in view of the earth’s billions of years of growth, there is much to see. It’s all pretty ripe and fruity. Here, the vertical palm trunks create markedly different spatial relationships. In one frame, the sky presses down on the sea, in another sea stands free of sky, in yet another sea, sky and land come together. The palm trunks create a drama of discontinuous spaces at a single time. (See another alternative in Wallace Stevens poem “Anecdote of the Jar”.)
